Board of Trustees

GFA is governed by a Board of Trustees representing various Friends churches, other supporting churches, and the Academy’s alumni. Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the school library. Unless closed for Executive business (dealing with confidential issues), these meetings are open to the public.

Sandi Hazen – Board Chair

Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education at Boise State, Masters of Science Degree in School Counseling at Northwest Nazarene University, Licensed Professional Counselor. (LPC) Sandi taught for 11 years at GFA and was a School Counselor for 20 years in West Ada School District. She and her husband’s three children and two of their granddaughters graduated from GFA and two of their grandsons presently go to GFA. Sandi attends Star Community Church and lives in Eagle, ID.

Ken Hibbs – Finance Chair

Ken has a degree in Electronics from Boise State University and worked as a Software Development engineer at HP for 31 yrs. Currently he is Self-employed. Ken graduated from GFA in 1972 and his wife, Devonne, graduated in 1973. Their three children are also graduates: Christine 1989, Darrin 1997 and Audra 1998. They have 10 grandchildren and one is currently enrolled at GFA. They attend Greenleaf Friends Church and live just outside of Greenleaf.

Kim Ichikawa – Vice-Chair

BS Eugene Bible College, MA  Fuller Theological Seminary. Member of Academic Affairs and Religious Life Committee. Currently Kim is an On-line language teacher and she and her husband have a daughter in 5th grade at GFA. They attend Greenleaf Friends Church and live in Parma.

Don Brown – Membership Committee

Caldwell Friends Church 2001-present

Currently pastor at Caldwell Friends Church. Three of his four children attended and graduated from GFA. Two grandchildren attended GFA and graduated and two are currently attending.

Ellen Morse – Director of Advancement

B.A. in Music Education K-12, George Fox University.
M.A. in Music Education with Secondary Choral Education, Boise State University.
33 years teaching experience (22 years at GFA).
Accepted position as GFA Director of Advancement in 2012.

Rod Lowe – Principal

B.S. degree Elem. Ed, BSU 1983
Masters degree Ed. Admin., UofI 1994
Ordained at MGT Legacy Church, 2016 (Meridian, ID)
Elementary and Middle teacher 8 yrs., Principal Internship: 4 yrs, Asst. Principal, 2 yrs. Principal at Vallivue Middle School from 1997-2014.  AWARDS: NASSP Breakthrough School Award 2012, Middle Level Educator of the year 2014.
