 Elementary Faculty

Kindergarten – Judy Lewis

Judy has been teaching for over twenty years in both public and private schools. She has been teaching here at GFA for the last three years. Judy is married to her college sweetheart Ken, he the Idaho state director for FCA. They have been married for 28. They have three children Brieannna, McKenna and Sarah. Sarah is currently a senior at GFA this year. The Lewis family reside in Nampa and attend church at the Boise Vineyard.

1st Grade – Sara Wirz

B.B.A. in Accounting, Idaho State University
B.A. in Elementary Education, Idaho State University
M.S.Ed. in Elementary Reading and Mathematics, Walden University
This is Sara’s first year at GFA, but she is not new to teaching; this is her ninth year teaching first grade. She just married Mr. Wirz last summer and they currently live in Kuna.  She attends Eagle Nazarene Church where she helps with the children’s ministry program. Sara enjoys reading, running, attending Bible studies, playing the piano, and working to expand her culinary skills.  Her favorite activity is traveling and learning about new places and cultures. She even has future plans to take students along on some of her adventures!  Her favorite destinations so far have been Ireland, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Kenya.

2nd Grade – Beth Sedlacek

Bachelors in Elementary Education K-8 – Western Governors University 
A few of the things Beth loves about teaching at GFA are being able to share with her students God’s great love, mercy, and forgiveness. She also enjoys the small school atmosphere. Randy and Beth have four children who attend GFA.  She enjoys attending student performances and cheering on GFA students. Her family attend Ustick Nazarene where they are actively involved in Youth Ministry. She lives near Parma with her family where they have several animals.

3rd Grade – Linda King

B.A. in Elementary Education, K-8, Cal State University
Linda has taught school for 16 years in both the public and private setting.  This is Linda’s seventh year to teach at GFA.  She has a passion for helping students increase their reading skills to become successful readers.  Linda feels that God has her at Greenleaf to freely include God in all aspects of academia.  She has three grown daughters, two of whom graduated from GFA, and two grandchildren.  Linda resides in Notus and is a member of Capital Church in Meridian, where she has also taught elementary age children.

4th Grade – Suzanne Plantenga

Suzanne Plantenga has been a part of the GFA family for 3 years now.  She spent much of her time substituting and then, having spent a portion of last year as a long term sub in the elementary, she has returned to teach 4th grade full-time this year.  Attending NNU for a ministerial degree, she is also pursuing her passion for teaching.  After school hours and on weekends, Suzanne can be found pastoring the children and young adults at a small church in Kuna.  Her husband of 10 years and their daughter (also an elementary student), can be found riding motorcycles, camping, and anything else outdoors, as well as reading and crafts.  Suzanne’s greatest passion in life to see people of all ages grow in their relationship with God, especially at a young age.

5th Grade – Gina Ihli

Gina is married.  She and her husband, John, have three adult children, one high school student, one elementary student and two grandchildren.  She has a passion for sports, camping, fishing, hiking, and reading.  She especially appreciates the emphasis here at GFA on the enjoyment of learning, which she believes builds life long learners!  She is grateful to those who support the school behind the scenes through prayer, service or financial gifts.  The Ihli’s live outside of Caldwell and attend church at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

Beth Carico

Elementary Music
B.A. Boise State University ’95 in Elementary Education K-8
A.A. Treasure Valley Community College
MRS Degree 1978; license current for 38 years.
Beth has been an educator for 17 years in public and private schools; 14 of those as a music teacher–with the last 6 years at GFA. She was also a Driver’s ed. instructor for 3 years. As a music teacher, her instruments of choice are piano, alto saxophone and voice.  She has also taught drumming groups composed of world drums. Married to Brad, a fireman (BC) in Caldwell; they have three married children who graduated from GFA–Richard ’98, Marlia ’99 and Brienna ’01.  They have 7 grandchildren; two who attend the Academy. They reside in Caldwell and are members of Capital Church in Meridian.

John lives in Greenleaf right behind the softball field.  He has been married to his wife Aimee for almost seven years and they have three beautiful daughters; Alexie, Erin, and Olivia. He attends Greenleaf Friends Church where his wife is the youth pastor. John has a passion for youth and helping them grow and deepen their relationship with God. He is very involved in the Quaker Hill camp ministry and is often up in McCall facilitating ropes course groups and getting things ready for that summer’s Junior High Camp. John loves working at GFA because of the ability to do what he loves while also given the freedom to share Jesus with students.

Lacey and her husband Jeff have been married 15 years and have two children. Both attend Greenleaf Friends Academy. This is Lacey’s first year at GFA.

Paul Cammack

This is Paul’s 8th year at GFA and he has 30+ years of teaching experience combining elementary, middle school, high school, and special education.  He came back to Greenleaf so that he could put 2 great-granddaughters in the academy.  Paul graduated from George Fox College in 1960 with a degree in Bible and Religion and has pastored in the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends for 9 years. He completed the Elementary Education program at Southern Oregon University and the program for Teaching the Exceptional Child at Boise State University. Paul played football, basketball, and baseball at GFC and has enjoyed playing sports whenever the opportunity presented itself. He also coached recreational teams for all grade levels. Now he enjoys watching other people coach and sharing “war stories” of past years.  He was raised on a farm near Ontario, Oregon, and enjoys getting involved in farm work on his own 4 1/2 acres, the community and GFA gardens, and does custom hay stacking when there are kids that need a job. Paul currently teaches Bible classes for 6th – 8th grades, Manuel Arts (shop) for Middle School, High School Art, and 6th Social Studies.

Tyler teaches Government, U.S. History, Geography, World Cultures, Introduction to Athletic Training, and P.E. He also coaches Junior High football.  He has been married for 6 years to Jennifer and they have twin 2-year-old girls – Henley & Kinsley.  He loves playing and coaching sports of all kinds, going hiking, and whitewater rafting, and spending as much time as he can with his family.  He lives in Meridian and attends Rockharbor Church.

Kylie grew up in Longmont, Colorado and relocated to Idaho in 2004 to attend College of Idaho. While there, she met her husband Josh Shatto, also a teacher. They have been married for 9 years, and live in Caldwell with their three “fur-babies” Kira, Nalin, and Jude (all cats). She attends Caldwell Presbyterian Church. Kylie is in her fourth year of teaching, having started at GFA in Fall 2013. In addition to music, she teaches Freshman English and drama, and directs the student-led praise team. Her favorite thing about GFA is the students!
